Attributes
Attributes are the main fields used to define and update an object.
You’ll work with these in the Resource Viewer, where you can view and edit them directly while working on an object.
The core attributes
Most objects use the same core set of attributes:
- Name
- Description
- Status
- Value
These appear in the Resource Viewer and are updated as you move work forward.
Updating attributes
You can update attributes directly in the Resource Viewer.
As you work on an object, you’ll fill in or adjust these fields to reflect its current state.
Some attributes must be completed before an object can move forward. For example, certain fields may need to be filled in before you can change its status.
Default values and inheritance
Attributes can be configured at the resource level.
In the resource settings, you can:
- Set default values, which are automatically applied when new objects are created
- Define inheritance, which controls which attributes pass down to subobjects
This helps keep your data consistent without needing to manually set everything each time.
Attribute recommendations
At times, the platform may suggest values for certain attributes.
These appear as a suggestion bubble next to the field.
You can click the suggestion to apply it, or dismiss it if it’s not relevant.
This helps you fill in attributes more quickly and keeps data consistent across your work.
What this section includes
The following guides explain how to use each attribute in more detail:
- Name – how to label objects clearly
- Description – what to include so it’s useful
- Status – how work moves forward
- Value – how to represent importance or impact
Summary
Attributes define what an object is and where it is in its progress.
By updating them as you work, and using defaults, inheritance, and suggestions, you can keep your data accurate and move work forward more easily.
