Assign
Assign objects to a user with optional status updates.
Related guide: Actions.
The Assign action passes an object to someone else to work on.
This can be another user or an AI agent.
How it works
When you click Assign, you’ll be asked for two things:
- Who to assign to – choose a person or an AI agent
- Desired status – choose how far you want the object progressed
Once assigned, the selected person or AI will take the object and work it towards that status.
Using desired status
The desired status tells the system what outcome you expect.
You don’t just assign the work — you define how far it should go.
For example, you might:
- Assign a post to an AI agent with a desired status of Researched, so it gathers information but leaves writing to you
- Assign something to a teammate with a desired status of Completed, meaning they are responsible for finishing it
This keeps expectations clear and helps work move forward in a structured way.
Assigning to AI
You can assign objects to AI agents as well as people.
This allows you to delegate work such as research, drafting, or progressing objects through stages.
The available AI agents depend on your setup. You can connect more integrations in your User Profile to unlock additional options.
What happens next
Once assigned, the object is passed to the selected person or AI.
They will work on it and, when ready, submit it back up the chain for review or the next step.
When to use Assign
Use Assign when you want someone else to take responsibility for the next step.
For example, you might:
- Pass work to a teammate
- Delegate tasks to AI
- Set clear expectations for what should be completed
Summary
Assign passes work to the right person or AI, along with a clear goal.
By choosing both who should do the work and how far it should go, you can move objects forward in a controlled and consistent way.
