Use default object actions to create, route, and complete work.
Actions
Actions are the controls you use to move an object forward.
You’ll find them at the top of the Resource Viewer, just below the object name.
Default actions
Most objects will show the same core set of actions:
- New – create a new subobject
- Delete – remove the object
- Research – generate notes and suggestions
- Assign – pass the object to a person or AI to work on
- Submit – send the object back up the approval chain
- More Actions – access additional options
These actions are always in the same place, so you can quickly take action after reviewing an object.
How actions work
Actions are how work moves between stages and between people.
When you click an action, it starts a process. What happens next depends on the action.
Some actions happen straight away. For example, New will create a subobject immediately, and Submit will send the object up the approval chain.
Some actions require confirmation. For example, Delete will ask you to confirm before removing the object.
Other actions may ask for more information before continuing. For example, Assign will let you choose who or what to assign the object to, and how it should be handled.
This means actions can be quick, or they can guide you through a decision, depending on what needs to happen.
Assign and submit
Assign and Submit usually work together.
You use Assign when you want someone else, or an AI agent, to take the next step.
You use Submit when that work has been done and is ready to go back for review, approval, or the next decision.
For example, if one person assigns an object to another, the second person would usually submit it back once it is ready.
Using actions to move work
Most work is completed by combining actions with status updates.
You might:
- Create new subobjects using New
- Gather information using Research
- Assign work using Assign
- Submit it for review or approval using Submit
These steps help move the object through its lifecycle.
